Our CEO and founder, Mary Ricketts, began her leadership path in 1990 in the telecommunications industry. Her natural coaching and leadership abilities led her to increased leadership responsibilities in the telecommunications space, and eventually into insurance and financial wellness. Partnering with John Maxwell's team helped her sharpen her training and development abilities. Turning Point Training and Development was founded in 2019 in response to requests from community partners that were needing a professional and experienced resource to ensure organizational success. We utilize a variety of trainers who are subject matter experts in their respective fields.
Our experience with adult education and relevant training is the core of what we’ve built our business upon. Each employee and trainer brings experience evaluating, leading, and training personnel. Our collective experience involves training teams from higher education, manufacturing, nonprofit organizations, community-based groups, small businesses, and businesses that show up on Fortune 500 lists. In addition to private organizations, we have worked with levels of local government organizations including school districts and health departments. Our ability to be industry agnostic allows us to cross-pollinate best practices and customize our training to each organization’s needs.

Online training can be delivered both live and on-demand. Live sessions allow for real-time interaction with instructors and peers, while on-demand training offers the flexibility for employees to complete the training at their own pace.
A: Online training materials are typically accessed through our learning management system (LMS) or our dedicated training platform for live sessions. Employees can log in using their credentials and access training materials from anywhere with an internet connection.
A: A wide range of training can be provided online, including leadership development, communication skills, team building, soft skills, administrative skills, personal & professional development, public speaking, sales, coaching programs and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.
A: Yes, often there's a need to purchase training in blocks of hours and select the topics as needed throughout the year. We offer 25-100 hours packages. Each online or in person session is capped at 20 participants per session and 4 hours is the max per session. (Average virtual sessions are 2 hours.)
A: Yes! We enjoy training outside of the Kansas City area. There is an additional fee to cover time and travel for both US and international sessions and may require two team members.
